The Congolese authorities have launched work for the establishment of the Joint Coordination Framework of Stakeholders working in the promotion and protection of the Rights of the Child. Indeed, despite the harmonization of the normative framework at national and international level, Congolese children continue to be victims of different forms of violations of their rights. To deal with this, this new structure will make it possible to combine all the intervention activities to assess their scope and submit recommendations and opinions to the DRC government.
At the level of the National Council for Children, the members focused their speech on three key points: the mission, the basis of the CNE Coordination framework and the future for Congolese children. This structure, placed under the supervision of the Ministry of Gender, Family and Children, will ensure a great mobilization with the main actors for a better protection of the child on the whole of the Congolese territory.
UNICEF, the government’s main partner in the implementation of the child promotion policy, encourages the implementation of the national policy for the promotion and protection of children’s rights in the DRC. The Children’s Representative, for her part, requested the involvement of the supervising minister for the implementation of all the commitments for the defense of the rights of the child.
This ceremony recorded the participation of the Deputy Minister of Justice, diplomatic corps accredited in the DRC, representatives of United Nations system agencies, representatives of civil society organizations as well as some delegates and guests.
It is therefore strongly expected that this cooperative structure can finally offer lasting solutions to guarantee better protection of Congolese children, who continue to suffer various forms of violence such as recruitment into armed groups and forces, early marriages and sexual violence.
