“Successful military operation against jihadists in eastern DRC: six fighters killed and three weapons recovered”

The armed forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) carried out a military operation against the jihadist fighters of the democratic and allied forces (ADF) in the territory of Beni. The clashes that took place on Wednesday May 31 led to the death of six elements of this foreign rebellion, the destruction of one of their strongholds and the recovery of three weapons of war near the Nzelube River.

The army spokesman in the area welcomed the success of the operation, pointing out that the army had put the ADF/MTN terrorist jihadists in difficulty by neutralizing six of them, recovering three type AK47 and several military objects. The population is called upon to strengthen its collaboration with the army to defeat the enemy.

Beyond this operation in the territory of Beni in the Democratic Republic of Congo, it is important to highlight the significant progress made in the eastern region of this country in terms of security. The security forces and their partners have multiplied operations to fight armed groups and strengthen the mechanisms for protecting civilian populations.

Despite the progress made, the region still faces significant humanitarian challenges. To strengthen security and consolidate peace, the Congolese authorities, with the support of the international community and their regional partners, must continue their efforts to put an end to the presence of armed groups that are rampant in the eastern region of the country.
