The political life of the Democratic Republic of Congo has been very lively lately. In an article published on the Fatshimetry blog, we learn that the Secretary General of Udps/Tshisekedi and Vice-President of the Socialist International, Augustin Kabuya, recently visited Europe. Accompanied by a delegation made up of several party officials, he toured the cities of Paris and Brussels.
During his stay, Augustin Kabuya met several delegations of members and activists of his party. They discussed key issues affecting the future of the party and the political situation in the DRC. The members of the Federations of Great Britain and Belgium particularly congratulated the Secretary General for his commitment and his know-how.
A few days later, the SG went to Zaventem airport to welcome its distinguished guest, Mrs. Benedicta Lasi, Secretary General of the Socialist International, who had come to discuss with the Spd party. During this meeting, they discussed the perspectives of the Socialist International.
Despite this tour in Europe, political life in the DRC remains very lively. The Catholic Church, for example, has called for an urgent assessment of the state of siege imposed in some provinces of the DRC. The ruling party, meanwhile, is threatening to boycott the elections without a consensual Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI).
In short, the DRC is experiencing a pivotal period where the various political actors are seeking to make their voices heard. The consequences of these political events will undoubtedly impact the daily life of the entire Congolese population.
