“Algeria firmly opposes military intervention in Niger and supports the return of Mohamed Bazoum to the presidency”

Algeria says “no” to a possible military intervention by ECOWAS in Niger and calls for the return of Mohamed Bazoum to his post as legitimate president of this country.

In a tense context in Niger following the military coup against the legitimately elected president, Algeria clearly affirms its refusal of any military intervention on the part of ECOWAS. Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf met with a special envoy of the President of Nigeria to reiterate this firm position.

According to Ahmed Attaf, it is essential to favor diplomatic and peaceful means to resolve the crisis in Niger. A military intervention would only worsen the situation not only for Niger, but also for the whole region.

Algeria categorically rejects the military coup and calls for the return of Mohamed Bazoum to his post as legitimate President of the Republic of Niger. The Algerian authorities have also expressed their support for Mohamed Bazoum and called for caution in the face of foreign military intervention intentions in the country.

This position of Algeria bears witness to its desire to favor dialogue and the peaceful resolution of conflicts. By opposing military intervention, Algeria wishes to avoid an escalation of violence and preserve the stability of the region as a whole.

It is now essential that all parties involved in the crisis in Niger engage in a constructive dialogue to find a political solution that respects the will of the people of Niger and restores constitutional order.

In conclusion, Algeria positions itself clearly against any military intervention in Niger and calls for the return of Mohamed Bazoum to the presidency. This position bears witness to Algeria’s commitment to peace and stability in the region
