The IX Games of La Francophonie in Kinshasa: Immerse yourself in a breathtaking cultural and sporting spectacle!

The IX Games of La Francophonie in Kinshasa: a spectacular cultural and sporting event

The IX Games of La Francophonie are about to begin in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo. This long-awaited event promises to be a spectacular cultural and sporting celebration, bringing together participants from different French-speaking countries.

The preparatory work for the games is finally complete, after several postponements due to the Covid-19 pandemic and infrastructure works. The organizers have made the necessary efforts to ensure that the sports venues are ready to host the various disciplines. In addition, a games village has been set up at the University of Kinshasa to house the participants.

However, a notable absence will be that of the Secretary General of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), Louise Mushikiwabo. Indeed, the Congolese government has not officially invited the Secretary General or other member states of the OIF, due to the security crisis raging between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda.

For its part, the Rwandan government has also decided not to send its athletes and musicians to the games, as a sign of solidarity with the decision of the Congolese government.

Despite these absences, the games promise to be a real spectacle. Francophone athletes and artists will have the opportunity to meet, share their passion and proudly represent their respective countries. Sports disciplines will include events such as athletics, swimming, basketball, football, and many more.

Beyond the sporting competition, the games will also be an opportunity to celebrate the cultural and linguistic diversity of La Francophonie. Musical performances, art exhibitions, theatrical performances and many other cultural activities will enrich the experience of participants and spectators.

The IX Games of La Francophonie in Kinshasa are therefore an event eagerly awaited, despite the challenges and significant absences. They will offer a unique platform to celebrate the Francophonie, promote sport and culture, and strengthen ties between OIF member countries. This is an event not to be missed for all lovers of the French language and Francophone values
