Kasai, a region now on the road to development, recently benefited from the benevolence of the Congolese head of state, Felix Tshisekedi, who allocated funds for the rehabilitation of certain areas of this province. The governor of Kasai, Dieudonné Pieme, took advantage of this opportunity to launch work to fill in a ravine that threatened the safety of local populations.
The project started with the arrival of a batch of construction equipment and machinery sent by the central government. The inhabitants of the region welcomed this initiative and expressed their gratitude to the Head of State for his commitment to the well-being of the population.
The province of Kasaï must now endeavor to mobilize the local population to help the executives of the Office of Roads and Drainage (OVD) as well as the security forces assigned to the supervision of this work. There are, indeed, security concerns since the landfill area is located in an area of high insecurity.
The embankment works represent an important step for the province of Kasai in the fight against climate change and natural risks. However, for the impact to be more lasting, it is essential that all stakeholders continue to work together to ensure the safety and sustainability of this long-term development project.
In any case, the initiative of the governor of Kasaï, Dieudonné Pieme, constitutes good news for the local populations. This is an example that must be followed by other governors of Congolese provinces to bring stability and security to their respective regions.
