“The urgency of repairing the Luozi engine ferry: a crucial issue for Kongo-Central”

The Luozi motor ferry, a crucial issue for the Kongo-Central region

In Kongo-Central, in the province of Luozi, the motor ferry has unfortunately been stopped for 8 days already. This situation has negative consequences on the daily life of the inhabitants, but also on the economic activities of the region. Bernardine Kitondo, provincial executive secretary of the CENI, is sounding the alarm and calling on the authorities to repair this floating device as soon as possible.

The Luozi motor ferry plays a vital role in the connectivity of the region. Indeed, it is the only way to connect the territory of Luozi, located on the right bank of the Congo River, to other parts of Kongo-Central. With a capacity of 35 tonnes, it facilitates the transport of goods, particularly agricultural products, between the two banks of the river.

Unfortunately, the recurring breakdowns of this machine are due to its obsolescence. In service since 1997, it requires regular repairs to ensure its proper functioning. This situation poses a real problem for the local population, who find themselves unable to move around and ship goods.

But beyond the impact on daily life, the stoppage of the Luozi ferry also has consequences for the ongoing electoral process. Indeed, with the approach of submitting candidacies to the provincial legislative elections, it is essential that the files of candidates can be sent quickly and securely. The authorities must realize the urgency of the situation and act quickly to avoid any delay or incident in this crucial process for democracy.

Bernardine Kitondo makes an urgent appeal to the authorities to repair the Luozi engine ferry. She points out that the use of canoes to cross the river presents many risks, especially given the high number of candidates expected for the provincial legislative elections. She fears that a disaster will occur if this situation is not resolved as soon as possible.

It is therefore imperative that the authorities take this situation into account and put in place the necessary measures to repair the Luozi engine ferry. This will guarantee the safety of the inhabitants, facilitate trade and ensure the smooth running of the ongoing electoral process.

It is essential to recognize the importance of these basic infrastructures for the economic and social development of a region. Investing in their repair and maintenance is essential to guarantee a better quality of life for the inhabitants and to promote the development of the Kongo-Central region
