The Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) has just launched an operation to issue duplicate voter cards in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This initiative aims to allow voters who have lost their card or whose writings have faded to be able to obtain a new document.
According to Jean-Baptiste Itipo, the communication director of the CENI, this operation concerns the voters concerned at no additional cost. However, it is important to follow the established procedure to obtain the duplicate.
In the case of a loss of the voter card, it is necessary to have this loss certified by a judicial police officer. The latter will issue a report of loss of the voter card, which must then be presented to the CENI branch of the original registration center.
Once there, the applicant will have to complete a duplicate request form, which will be examined by the head of the CENI antenna or his delegate in order to confirm the voter’s registration in the center concerned.
For voters whose writings on the card have become illegible, it is necessary to go to the CENI branch of the registration center to obtain a new voter card.
The CENI also warns against networks producing fake duplicate voter cards. She reminds the population to deposit all forgotten or abandoned voter cards at the headquarters of the commission.
This initiative of the CENI aims to facilitate the access of Congolese citizens to their right to vote during the next elections. By offering the possibility of obtaining duplicate voter cards, the commission contributes to ensuring fair and transparent democratic participation.
In the desire to strengthen voters’ confidence in the electoral process, this operation to issue duplicate voter cards is an important step. It ensures that all citizens can exercise their right to vote legally and in accordance with established rules.
Democracy in the Democratic Republic of Congo is thus being strengthened, with an electoral commission that works actively to facilitate citizen participation in electoral processes
