“Sama Lukonde Kyenge Government: Ironclad Stability Despite Challenges”

The Sama Lukonde Kyenge government held its 100th meeting of the Council of Ministers under the leadership of Head of State Félix Tshisekedi. This consistency is for the Head of Government Sama Lukonde a proof of the stability of the State, despite the worrying security situation in the eastern part of the DRC.

The marriage of President Félix Tshisekedi with the Common Front for Congo (FCC) of Joseph Kabila Kabange gave birth to the new Coalition of the Sacred Union of the Nation and the government Sama Lukonde Kyenge, invested in April 2021 in the Assembly national. The latter recently underwent a technical reorganization with the entry of big names from the Congolese political scene, such as Vital Kamerhe as VPM, Minister of National Economy, and Jean-Pierre Bemba Gombo as VPM, Minister of National Defense and Veterans.

However, this political consistency is put to the test by various events. The empty chair left by Prime Minister Sama Lukonde during Erdogan’s inauguration in Turkey highlights the absence of new investments in the DRC, with titanic projects that are long overdue. In addition, the arrest of Salomon Kalonda also contributed to heightening the tension in the run-up to the elections. Finally, the assassination of a civil society leader in Beni province is one more step towards ending insecurity in the region, but it also underlines the prevailing instability.

Despite all these difficulties, the Sama Lukonde government remains faithful to its creed: to work for the stability of the State, for economic growth, and for the fight against insecurity. Hopefully this will bear fruit in the near future
