Press release – New Board of Directors of the Régie des Voies Aériennes (RVA) takes office
GOMBE, July 26, 2023 – The new Board of Directors of the Régie des Voies Aériennes (RVA) officially took office today during a handover and takeover ceremony between the incoming and outgoing team. This transition follows the presidential orders made public on July 8, 2023, appointing new leaders within certain public companies.
Alphonse Shungu Mahungu, who retains his position as Managing Director of RVA, will now be assisted by Mayaya Kawaasa, appointed Deputy Managing Director. Tryphon Kin-Kiey Mulumba makes his entry replacing Bienvenu Liyota Ndjoli as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
In his speech, Bienvenu Liyota, outgoing PCA, expressed his gratitude to the Head of State for the trust placed in him during his three years at the head of the RVA Board of Directors. He also thanked all the staff, both from the Central Administration and the airport entities, as well as his colleagues on the Board of Directors and the outgoing Chief Executive Officer, with whom he accomplished the missions assigned to him.
He underlined the achievements made under their leadership, in particular the stabilization of the management and the recovery of the production tool of the RVA. Despite the difficulties encountered, he noted that the operational capacities of the RVA are maintained in an acceptable state of functionality, thanks to the competence of the technical staff.
Bienvenu Liyota also mentioned the modernization works of airport infrastructure and air navigation aid equipment which are developing rapidly in several cities of the DRC, and expressed his satisfaction with the social peace reigning within the society despite the country’s difficult macro-economic environment.
He concluded his speech by assuring the new management team that the development prospects of RVA are good, thanks to the potential available to the company. He wished success and good luck to the new leaders.
The new Chairman of the Board of Directors, Tryphon Kin-Kiey Mulumba, underlined in his speech that the team will work in the interest of the company to enable it to fulfill its mission successfully. He assured the Chief Executive Officer of support for the Board of Directors and underlined the importance of cohesion within the management team.
This transition marks a new chapter for the RVA, and the new management team is determined to meet the challenges and continue to develop the company.. The objectives of modernizing airport infrastructure and improving air navigation equipment remain at the heart of their concerns to ensure the safety and quality of air services in the Democratic Republic of Congo
