“Heavy fighting in eastern DRC: FARDC neutralizes 6 members of the Democratic and Allied Forces (ADF)”

The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is once again in the grip of violent fighting which pitted the armed forces of the DRC (FARDC) against the jihadists of the Democratic and Allied Forces (ADF) in the town of Rwenzori, located in the province of Beni.

According to information given by an army spokesman, the FARDC succeeded in neutralizing six members of the foreign ADF rebellion and recovered three weapons of the AK47 type and other military objects near the Nzelube river.

This fighting is further proof of the fragility of security in eastern DRC, where armed groups are still very active despite the efforts made by the Congolese authorities to restore peace and stability.

The FARDC have launched a search operation in the region to allow free movement on the Beni-Kasindi road. The army spokesman also called on the population to strengthen their collaboration with the armed forces to defeat the enemy.

It is hoped that this combing operation will eradicate armed groups from the region, so that the inhabitants of eastern DRC can finally live in peace and security. However, much remains to be done to consolidate peace and stability in this part of the country.
