The elections of provincial deputies and municipal councilors in the Democratic Republic of the Congo are arousing great expectations and great mobilization on the part of the population. This election, convened by the president of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), Denis Kadima, marks a historic turning point for the country, since it will allow voters to directly choose their local representatives, a first for more than 30 years.
In a speech delivered during the voter convocation ceremony, Denis Kadima stressed the importance of this election for the strengthening of local democracy and development at the community level. He also expressed his wish that these elections be a true celebration of democracy in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The CENI expects a large influx of candidates in the reception and processing offices for the elections of provincial deputies and municipal councillors. This active participation bears witness to the commitment of Congolese citizens to the democratic process and their desire to contribute directly to local governance.
The day after the voters were called, offices for receiving and processing candidacies opened their doors throughout the country. This marks the start of an intense period of candidate registration and preparation for the upcoming elections.
Alongside these elections, other significant events are taking place in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. For example, the collective for the defense of victims of the war M23 demands accountability for the atrocities committed during this conflict. Russia and the DRC have also signed a visa waiver agreement, facilitating travel between the two countries. In addition, cutting-edge training in digital law and OHADA law is offered by Ntetika SCP.
Finally, the meetings between the Prime Ministers of the DRC, Sama Lukonde, and of Senegal, Amadou Ba, made it possible to strengthen bilateral relations and international solidarity.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo is going through a period of intense political, economic and social activity, with major challenges such as the consolidation of peace, the resolution of regional crises, and the strengthening of democracy at all levels.
