“Congolese football in interclub competitions: Mazembe, V.Club, and Maniema Union qualified thanks to their sporting merit”

The Congolese Federation of Football Association (Fecofa) has taken the decision to qualify in African interclub competitions, the teams of Mazembe, V.Club and Maniema Union for next season. This decision is based on the accumulation of points for these three teams over the last four seasons, which allows them to be in the first three places in the standings, to the detriment of Daring Club Motema Pembe (Dcmp) and FC Saint Eloi Lupopo. . The latter will not play the African Cup if this classification is confirmed.

For information, the national championship had been stopped in December 2022 for lack of resources and Fecofa, together with the clubs, had decided to put an end to this edition.

Back to our news, Fecofa has therefore decided to qualify Mazembe, V.Club and Maniema Union for next season’s competitions. This measure is based on the sporting merit of these three teams, which have won the Congolese championship in recent years. This decision should ensure a good Congolese representation during these African interclub competitions.

This announcement comes in a particular context in the DRC, characterized by terrorist attacks, a heated debate on the draft law on the distribution of seats for the elections, as well as the economic crisis. Despite these concerns, sport remains an area that unites the Congolese, especially football which is very popular.

It should be noted that this decision to qualify teams for next season’s competitions is good news for Congolese football which needs these kinds of events to develop further.
