“The fair for young Congolese entrepreneurs: the Fondation Le Parrain rewards the best projects and encourages entrepreneurship among young people in the DRC”

Le Parrain, a foundation that promotes youth entrepreneurship in the Democratic Republic of Congo, organized its second fair for young Congolese entrepreneurs on June 1, 2023. The event was held at Pullman Lubumbashi and saw the participation of the Vice-Governor from the province of Haut-Katanga, Jean-Claude KANFWA.

Passy MUKOMA, President of the Foundation, broadcast a video to encourage young people to follow the example of the winning entrepreneurs of the previous year to become accomplished business leaders. The winners then formed a panel and shared their experience, highlighting several products such as BUNKETE plus, AFYA, ATIA super Gari, MASANGA KONGO, as well as raising rabbits and quails.

The representative of the provincial authority also encouraged panelists and participants to engage in entrepreneurship as a way to create jobs and economic growth to meet the challenge of the country’s development.

The ceremony continued with a series of pitches during which five young entrepreneurs presented their projects to obtain start-up financing and adequate support. The organizers presented a check worth 10,000 US dollars to each of them to help them start their projects under the aegis of the experts of the Fondation Le Parrain.

The fair ended with a visit of the stands and the organizers gave an appointment to the participants for the next edition which will be held in another region of the DRC.

The Parrain Foundation aims to create opportunities for young people and to incubate the various projects that highlight young Congolese entrepreneurs. The initiative demonstrates the commitment of local actors to economic development and the employability of young people in the DRC
