Incursion of suspected ADF fighters: at least 9 people killed by machete and by hip

On Thursday, June 1, alleged ADF fighters attacked the locality of Museya, in the Bashu chiefdom, Beni territory, in North Kivu. The attack began at 11 p.m. and killed nine people, including four women. According to witnesses, some victims were killed in their homes while others were executed in their compounds.

Suspected ADF fighters have been behind several attacks in Beni in recent weeks. On May 20, sixteen people were killed while gathering in a village in the same Bashu chiefdom.

Violence in Beni continues to threaten the safety of the population. The international community should do more to help build lasting peace in the region
