Assassination of a finalist student in Bunyuka: the soldier who committed the act arrested
The forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo announced this Tuesday, June 2 the arrest of the soldier involved in the assassination of a finalist student in Bunyuka, in the territory of Beni in North Kivu. The author, who was controlled by his brothers in arms, will have to answer for his act before the competent judicial authorities.
If the reasons which motivated this soldier to shoot at the civilian are not yet clarified, his arrest constitutes a significant advance in repressing this offending behavior.
However, the army spokesman deplored mob justice against a FARDC element in the same area, and informed that the author who raised the population by calling for a day without activity will also be punished by law.
In summary, this heinous act obliges us to strengthen efforts to enforce the rule of law and guarantee the security of citizens, who are at the center of the concerns of the Congolese armed forces.
