The city of Kinshasa woke up this morning with the sad news of the death of Professor Lobo Kanza-Kanza, a prominent figure in the Congolese academic community. The Professor died on May 27, 2023, following a long illness.
The funeral program will take place over two days, Friday June 02, 2023 and Saturday June 03, 2023. The family will welcome the relatives of the deceased at the family home on Avenue Tuema number 18, Masanga-Mbila district, Commune of Mont-Ngafula , for a service of thanksgiving and a wake.
On Saturday morning, the funeral procession will go to the University Clinics of Kinshasa for the lifting of the body, which will then be taken to the Faculty of Sciences for academic tributes. The Dean of the Faculty, the student committee of the University of Kinshasa, as well as members of the Ituri community in Kinshasa will pay tribute to Professor Kanza-Kanza.
The funeral ceremony will culminate at the Kimberley Memorial Park cemetery, in the Diaki village of KONGO CENTRAL. Finally, in the middle of the afternoon, the consolation bath at the family home will end the funeral.
The news of the death of Professor Lobo Kanza-Kanza comes in a context where the country is experiencing many social, political and security tensions.
