“Electoral process in the DRC: recent progress and future prospects”

The electoral process in the DRC continues to move forward, as evidenced by the recent meeting between the Congolese Head of Government, Sama Lukonde and the President of the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), Denis Kadima Kazadi. Discussions focused on government assistance to finance the electoral process.

This meeting took place after the presentation of the results of the external audit of the CENI, which confirmed the reliability of the electoral register. The CENI office also tabled a draft law on the distribution of seats.

The electoral calendar was made public in November 2022, with the polls scheduled for December 20, 2023. The CENI announced the convocation of the electorate to the national deputation for June 25, 2023.

Despite these advances, the countdown continues to accelerate for all stakeholders in the electoral process, who must prepare to submit their files.

These recent events testify to the seriousness and importance of the electoral process in the DRC, with the government and the CENI working together to achieve the objectives set.
