The international judo training camp in Africa strengthens the cohesion between the athletes and prepares the judokas for the competitions to come

The international judo training camp continues at the police gymnasium in Kinshasa, bringing together judokas from Togo, Benin, Burkina-Faso, Burundi, the Republic of Congo, Niger and the DRC. Under the supervision of Antonio Moreira-Faia, an expert from the International Judo Confederation, these athletes train together in a good-natured atmosphere.

This experience of training with judokas from other countries is considered an advantage for the participants. Fanyo Laurynn, a Burundian athlete in the heavyweight category, explains that it allows them to learn new things with the expert, to meet different opponents and to improve their techniques. She points out that this is an advantage for all the athletes present.

Wogo Christophe, national technical director of judo in Congo Brazzaville, says training together is a habit for them. Judokas from different countries meet regularly at inter-regional tournaments, which allows them to get to know each other and mingle. This proximity strengthens their cohesion and promotes exchanges between the athletes.

The international judo expert, Antonio Moreira, believes that the athletes are ready to face the Games of La Francophonie. She says she is satisfied with their preparation and is convinced that they will do well in this major sporting event.

The Democratic Republic of Congo will be represented by fourteen judo athletes, including seven girls. This participation testifies to the country’s commitment to the development of judo and the desire to promote the practice of sport among women.

This international judo training camp is therefore a unique opportunity for African judokas to train, discuss and prepare for upcoming competitions. It also marks the will of the participating countries to strengthen sports cooperation and promote judo in Africa. A great initiative that contributes to the development of athletes and the promotion of sport on the continent
