“The situation on the Masiambio-Kwamouth road axis quoted in Kwamouth, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, raises serious concerns. Indeed, militiamen from the Mobondo group have instilled real terror by transforming themselves into highway robbers in the village of Nsele, a few kilometers from the city of Kwamouth. This situation is greatly disrupting the movement of people and goods, thus blocking access to the city and depriving the inhabitants of supplies.
This road is of capital importance for the city of Kwamouth, allowing it to receive agricultural and manufactured products. It is also a crucial means of communication with other geographical areas. Unfortunately, these highway robbers have created a situation of fear and insecurity which makes it impossible to cross this axis.
Martin Suta, President of Kwamouth Civil Society, strongly denounces this situation. According to him, the militiamen obey the orders of a leader named “Cobra”. The acts of violence and thefts committed by these highway robbers directly affect the local population, in particular motorbike drivers whose vehicles are regularly stolen.
The consequences of this situation are disastrous for the daily life of the inhabitants of Kwamouth. The city finds itself in a situation of asphyxiation, deprived of supplies and unable to connect with other regions. NGOs wishing to use this highway to carry out their missions also find themselves blocked.
It is essential that the authorities quickly take the necessary measures to restore security on this road axis. The presence of militiamen and the acts of violence they commit must be severely condemned and combated. The population of Kwamouth deserves to live in a peaceful environment and to benefit from fluid access to the means of communication and the products necessary for their survival.
It is therefore crucial that prompt and effective action be taken to put an end to this situation and bring peace to the Kwamouth region. The authorities must guarantee the safety of the inhabitants and allow free movement on this vital road for the city.
The current situation in Kwamouth highlights the security challenges that many regions face. Road blockages and militia activity are unfortunately commonplace in parts of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is essential to continue to work for stability and security in all regions of the country in order to allow the inhabitants to live in a serene environment conducive to development.
