The soap opera of the hostage taking of Claudine Masamba’s legacy by her brothers continues to make headlines. Since December 2022, the case has been in the hands of the Tribunal de Grande Instance of Kinshasa/Matete, but the debates have not yet resulted in a resolution on the merits.
It all started with the complaint of Claudine Masamba, who denounced the illegal sale of an inheritance property, namely a plot located in the municipality of Limete. The sale would have been carried out by six of his brothers, all heirs of Simon Masamba Makela, famous promoter of the “Masamba School” in Kinshasa. Dissatisfied with this fraudulent sale, carried out on the basis of falsified documents, Claudine turned to justice to defend her rights and obtain the release of joint ownership.
However, the case has had many ups and downs. During the hearing in December 2022, it was discovered that Claudine’s brothers residing abroad had not been reached by the procedure. It was therefore necessary to regularize the service with respect to them. But the obstacles did not stop there. During the April 2023 hearing, we learned that one of Claudine’s brothers claimed not to have been properly seized, although he had indeed been reached during the previous hearing. Delaying maneuvers therefore seem to be at work to prevent the exit from joint ownership.
Claudine Masamba suspects that her brothers and other people are acting behind the scenes to block the situation and thus benefit from the assets of the Masamba estate. She deplores this situation which tarnishes the reputation of her family and has seized various institutions to denounce these injustices.
This family soap opera is far from over, and the battle for the release of joint ownership and the preservation of Claudine Masamba’s legacy continues to make headlines. To be followed closely.
