The fierce battle between two UDPS deputies to represent Mwene-Ditu
The electoral district of Mwene-Ditu, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, is the scene of a fierce struggle between two heavyweights of the UDPS to represent the population in the national deputation. Jean-Claude Lubamba Mutombo, provincial deputy elected on the UDPS/Tshisekedi list in 2018 and vice-governor of Lomami since June 2022, filed his candidacy on Friday July 21, 2023 on the UDPS mosaic list, also known as Alliance pour le triple A et Alliés (A.3.A).
This candidacy follows that of Charles Guillaume Mpunga Mushamusha, national deputy elected in 2018 on the same list of UDPS Tshisekedi. The two men are vying for a single seat in the national deputies, thus causing a division among the militants and sympathizers of the presidential party in Mwene-Ditu.
Faced with this tension, Jean-Claude Lubamba called for cohesion and tolerance during this electoral period. He stressed that the triple A, a political party created by the UDPS, will support his candidacy using the emblems of the presidential party.
Since the 2018 elections, the fight for national parliamentary seats has become increasingly intense, especially within the UDPS. As the ruling party seeks to consolidate its political influence, candidates are vying for positions, causing internal divisions.
It is essential for the party to find a balance and maintain unity in order to preserve its credibility and meet the expectations of the population. Elections in the DRC are a crucial moment for democracy and political representativeness, and it is essential to guarantee transparent and fair electoral processes.
The battle between Jean-Claude Lubamba and Charles Guillaume Mpunga Mushamusha to represent Mwene-Ditu in the national deputation will be a test for the UDPS and its ability to manage internal rivalries. Voters in the constituency will have to make an informed choice in the next election, paying attention to the candidates’ skills, achievements and plans for the future of their region.
It remains to be seen how this political struggle will unfold and what impact it will have on the political landscape of the DRC. In any case, it is essential that candidates and political parties prioritize the general interest and political stability to ensure a better future for all Congolese
