The 9th Francophonie Games in Kinshasa: The DRC ready to shine on the international scene!

The 9th Games of La Francophonie are fast approaching and Kinshasa is preparing to host this major sporting and cultural event. Just eight days before the opening ceremony, the ambassadors of France, Switzerland, Canada and Senegal, accompanied by members of the Congolese government, made an inspection visit to the sites that will host the competitions.

The delegation began its round at the Stade des Martyrs, then went to the Tata Raphaël site before ending at the University of Kinshasa (UNIKIN), where the athletes are housed. Diplomats and members of the government were satisfied with the finish of the works on all the sites visited.

According to the Congolese government spokesman, Patrick Muyaya, there is no doubt as to the smooth running of these games. He stressed that the country has a real chance to organize this meeting of French-speaking youth. The renovated sports infrastructure will also enable the DRC to position itself to host other international competitions in the future.

The University of Kinshasa was specifically highlighted during this visit. Athlete accommodation, football pitches, basketball pitches and the Olympic swimming pool have been renovated to provide optimal training conditions for representatives from different countries.

As for the Tata Raphaël Stadium, which was initially to house the games village, certain centers such as the dispensary or the restaurant will be ready in time. Good news that testifies to the will of the Congolese authorities to do everything possible to ensure the success of this event.
