On July 20, an article published on the Fatshimetrie.org blog revealed new information regarding the assassination of Chérubin Okende Senga, the former Congolese Minister of Transport and spokesperson for the Ensemble pour la République party. More than a week after this tragic event, the government and the opposition continue to accuse each other.

The Ensemble pour la République party has expressed its dismay at the “dubious” statements of some members of the government, in particular the Minister of Finance, Nicolas Kazadi Kadima, who have drawn parallels with the assassination of the former Congolese President, Laurent Désiré Kabila, in 2001. According to the party, it is unacceptable to treat such a crime so lightly and to manipulate communication to confuse public opinion.

In its clarification, the Together for the Republic party also criticized the Attorney General at the Court of Cassation, Firmin Mvonde Mambu, for having tendentiously disclosed the first conclusions of his investigation. The party wondered about the non-respect of the principle of the secrecy of the instruction and asked that serious investigations be carried out to find the authors and the sponsors of this assassination.

In response to these accusations, the Attorney General recanted his remarks, specifying that he was speaking in the conditional and that an autopsy was necessary to determine if the death was due to a bullet. He stressed the importance of this autopsy to clarify certain gray areas of the investigation.

This article highlights the ongoing tensions between the government and the opposition over the assassination of Chérubin Okende Senga. He also stresses the importance of conducting a thorough and transparent investigation to shed light on this criminal act
