“African Union: towards solid regional integration, lasting peace and prosperous development”

Regional integration is a major concern for African leaders. At the recently held 43rd Ordinary Session of the African Union, the commitment to regional integration, peace and sustainable development was highlighted. The leaders expressed their will to strengthen ties between member countries and promote effective cooperation.

Regional integration plays a key role in Africa’s economic and social development. By encouraging trade, investment and the free movement of people and goods, it promotes the growth and prosperity of member countries. It also helps to strengthen political stability and peace in the region.

The African Union undertakes to strengthen existing regional institutions, such as the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) or the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and to promote the creation of new regional structures when necessary.

The establishment of sustainable development mechanisms and programs is also a priority for African leaders. They recognize that economic development cannot be achieved at the expense of the environment and natural resources. Efforts are being made to promote the sustainable use of natural resources and to combat the adverse effects of climate change.

Furthermore, the promotion of peace and security remains a key concern for the African Union. Security cooperation is strengthened to counter cross-border threats such as terrorism, arms trafficking and organized crime. African leaders are aware of the importance of a stable and secure region to ensure the well-being of their people.

The commitment to regional integration, peace and sustainable development is a positive sign of the will of African leaders to work together for a promising future for the continent. However, much remains to be done to achieve these goals. The effective implementation of policies and programs, as well as the mobilization of the necessary resources, will be essential to ensure their success.

In conclusion, regional integration, the promotion of peace and sustainable development are priorities for the African Union. African leaders pledge to strengthen cooperation among member countries, promote sustainable use of natural resources and ensure regional security and stability
