The recent tragic news in the city province of Kinshasa shocked the whole country. Between kidnappings and massive thefts, persistent rumors of trafficking in human organs and the heinous assassination of deputy Chérubin OKENDE, the population is in shock. Never in the recent history of the country had such a level of savagery been reached.
It is sad to note that the city of Kinshasa, which should host the IXth edition of La Francophonie, is not ready for the event. The sites are still under construction, dirt is omnipresent and insecurity reigns. The behavior of some people inevitably leads to civil war, jeopardizing national unity and the social contract.
What is sorely lacking in the country is the authority of the State over the whole territory, equality before the law and the dignity of the Congolese people, often humiliated by foreign occupations. The defense and security services behave ambivalently, while the elites show disconcerting irresponsibility.
It is time for the country to rise to the challenge and rebuild its nation. This requires an investment in education, training and raising the culture of the Congolese people. Unfortunately, the country is often the victim of misdirection and embezzlement.
Congolese youth, especially those in Kinshasa, face mass unemployment. To overcome this adversity, it is essential to cultivate a visceral attachment to certain principles such as the rule of law, respect for institutions, patriotism and the safeguarding of international sovereignty.
It is important to emphasize that there is no inevitable violence. It is up to our authorities to combat this violence with seriousness and determination. Passion and love for the Congo is the best antidote to the chaos into which some want to plunge a nation of nearly 100 million people.
It is urgent to rebuild the nation, restore civility and restore hope to the Congolese population. The time has come for our authorities to take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of citizens, promote equality before the law and invest in education and training to provide a better future for young people.
Congo has the potential to become a strong, united and prosperous nation. It is time to put an end to acts of savagery, to rebuild the authority of the State and to restore the principles of living together
