The tragedy shook the small town of Tshikapa, capital of Kasai province, on the night of Monday to Tuesday July 11. Prince Tshibola, a cigarette seller, was murdered in his home by armed individuals whose identity remains unknown. The news of this heinous act spread quickly, plunging the city into great tension.
The local population, shocked by this incident, quickly mobilized to express their dissatisfaction with the growing insecurity. Violent clashes then broke out between the population and the police dispatched to the scene of the crime.
