Title: The Armed Forces of the DRC arrest a new band of suspected criminals: the securing of Ituri continues

This Tuesday, July 11, 2023, the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) announced the arrest of another gang of suspected criminals in the province of Ituri. A total of 22 individuals, including two women and nine FARDC soldiers, were apprehended in operations carried out in Mambasa, Komanda and Bunia. Among the items seized are a car, a motorcycle, a generator and four firearms. This new operation is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security in the Ituri region.
The first band, led by a certain “Indocide”, operated in Mambasa. The leader of this group was subdued and injured during his arrest and is currently undergoing medical treatment. Another organization, made up of young people from the Saïo district, is accused of numerous acts of disturbing public order, looting and theft in Bunia, following the murder of a young person from the district at the end of June.

The governor of Ituri province, Lieutenant-General Luboya N’kashama Johnny, expressed his outrage at the behavior of young people in the Saïo district and called for disciplinary measures against them. He also reminded the Iturian youth of the importance of making positive choices for their future and for the stability of the region. The names of the suspected criminals are known and the authorities pledge to arrest them wherever they are.
