“Citizen Responsibility: Let’s Choose Competent and Honest Leaders in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Upcoming Elections”

The power to choose our representatives is a privilege and a responsibility of which every citizen must be aware. This was recently emphasized by Bishop Marcel Utembi Tapa, President of the Episcopal Conference of Congo (CENCO), during a press conference in Kisangani.

In his speech, Bishop Utembi Tapa called on the Congolese to show objectivity in the upcoming elections, which will take place in December. He insisted on the importance of favoring the criteria of competence and moral probity in the choice of our leaders, and of rejecting opportunists, tribalists, nepotists and those who seek to buy consciences.

The Prelate stressed that the elections are an opportunity for the Congolese people to renew their confidence in those who have served the country well, while sanctioning those who have mismanaged in serving their own interests. He invited the population to open their eyes, to become aware of their responsibility as primary sovereign, and to make a wise choice for the future of the country.

This position taken by CENCO is all the more important in a context where trust in political leaders is often shaken. The Congolese need competent and honest leaders, able to meet the many challenges facing the country.

It is therefore up to each Congolese voter to get information, analyze the programs of the candidates and make an informed decision during the next elections. Moving away from populist rhetoric and illusory promises is essential to fostering genuine political renewal.

This statement by CENCO also recalls the importance of civic engagement and active participation in building a better society. Elections are not only a moment of choice, but also an opportunity to make your voice heard and to contribute to change.

In conclusion, Bishop Marcel Utembi Tapa’s message is clear: the Congolese must open their eyes and show objectivity in the upcoming elections. It is time to choose competent and honest representatives, capable of serving the general interest and leading the country towards a better future
