The Francophonie Games in Kinshasa: Despite the withdrawals, a major event dedicated to the promotion of the Francophonie

The Games of La Francophonie, a major event bringing together French-speaking countries, will be held from July 28 to August 6 in Kinshasa, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. However, the organization of this event is not without difficulties, particularly with regard to the participation of certain countries.

Isidore Kwandja, director of the national committee of the Francophonie Games, said he was surprised by the decision of some countries to withdraw just three weeks from the event. According to him, all concerns related to security, health and infrastructure have yet been taken into account by the Congolese government.

He recalled that Canadian delegations had already come in January and May to discuss their participation and received all the necessary security guarantees. Despite this, Quebec decided to withdraw from the Games, while New Brunswick confirmed its participation. Other French-speaking countries, such as Switzerland, France and Wallonia, have also expressed concerns but have not yet made a final decision.

Despite these withdrawals, Isidore Kwandja assured that many other French-speaking states and territories have confirmed their participation, testifying to the importance of this event for the promotion of the Francophonie.

The Games of La Francophonie are an opportunity for the participating countries to showcase their culture, their sport and their art. It is also an opportunity to strengthen ties and exchanges between French-speaking nations.

The organization of such an event requires flawless coordination, both in terms of logistics and security. The organizers of the Francophone Games National Committee have worked hard to provide participants with optimal conditions and to ensure that all aspects are taken into account.

Despite the challenges encountered, the Games of La Francophonie remain a major event that highlights the diversity and richness of the Francophonie. It is an unmissable event for all lovers of the French language and culture.

As preparations continue in Kinshasa, all eyes are on this ninth edition of the Games of La Francophonie, in the hope that the participating countries will finally be able to take part in this memorable event. The stage is therefore ready, the athletes and artists are ready to surpass themselves to represent their country, and the entire Francophonie is impatiently awaiting this moment of celebration and exchange.
