Rupture of the FCC-CACH coalition in the DRC: Tshisekedi and Kabila pass the buck

The Democratic Republic of Congo is once again shaken by the breakdown of the FCC-CACH coalition, which brought together current President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi and his predecessor Joseph Kabila. In a game of political ping-pong, the two leaders mutually reject responsibility for this rupture.

During a television interview, Felix Tshisekedi expressed his regret at the failure of this coalition in which he had placed a lot of hopes. He claims to have believed in the solidarity of the Congolese and had wanted to try another approach to peacefully change the country. However, he deplores the interference which led to the disintegration of the coalition and regrets that this great experience has failed.

For his part, Joseph Kabila denies any responsibility in this rupture and accuses Tshisekedi of not having respected his commitments to advance the FCC-CACH coalition.

This break in the FCC-CACH coalition, which took place in December 2021, led to a reconfiguration of the parliamentary majority and the creation of the Sacred Union of the Nation, a political platform in support of Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi. Since then, political tensions have been high in the DRC.

This situation highlights the challenges faced by political coalitions and underlines the need for political stability for the development of the country. The Congolese hope to be able to count on their leaders to find peaceful solutions and to work together for the well-being of the nation.

It is crucial that political leaders put aside their differences and unite their efforts to solve the problems facing the country, such as poverty, insecurity and governance problems. Only strong cooperation and sincere commitment to the Congolese people will build a better future for all.

The breakdown of the FCC-CACH coalition highlights the importance of responsible and consensual political governance, where the interests of the country and its citizens are placed above personal ambitions. The Congolese people deserve leaders who work together for the common good and work to transform the country’s immense potential into a prosperous reality.

As the political situation in the DRC remains tense, it is crucial that political actors prioritize dialogue and find peaceful solutions to the challenges facing the country. Only a real commitment to the well-being of the nation will allow the DRC to progress on the path to peace, stability and sustainable development
