News: Motion of no confidence against Godé Mpoyi, president of the Kinshasa Provincial Assembly
During a plenary held recently, the provincial deputies of Kinshasa voted unanimously in favor of a delay of 48 hours in order to allow Godé Mpoyi, president of the Provincial Assembly, to present his defense following a motion of no confidence initiated against him. This decision follows numerous accusations of abuse of power and mismanagement against Godé Mpoyi.
The initiator of the motion of no confidence, provincial deputy Mbonzi wa Mbonzi of the Mouvement de liberation du Congo (MLC), has already collected five signatures in favor of the dismissal of Godé Mpoyi. In a letter addressed to the Vice-President of the Provincial Assembly, Godé Mpoyi justified his absence by invoking “intellectual medical” rest.
It is interesting to note that this motion of no confidence comes after a handshake between the governor of Kinshasa, Gentiny Ngobila, and Godé Mpoyi, which testifies to an attempt at reconciliation between the two personalities. However, the reproaches formulated by Godé Mpoyi against the urban authority, in particular the arrears of remuneration of the provincial deputies and the mismanagement of the finances of the Congolese capital, threw oil on the fire.
This situation once again highlights the existing tensions within the political bodies in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and highlights the need for sound management of resources and increased transparency in governance.
In conclusion, the motion of no confidence against Godé Mpoyi, president of the Kinshasa Provincial Assembly, reflects the concerns of provincial deputies about his management and opens the way to an in-depth debate on the political and economic situation of the Congolese capital. It remains to be seen how Godé Mpoyi will react to these accusations and what the final decision of the provincial deputies will be.
