The political news in the Democratic Republic of Congo is marked by the recommendations of the opposition to guarantee a transparent and fraud-free electoral process. Delly Sesanga, the leader of the political party Envol, reiterated these demands during a rally in Bandundu.
First of all, he demands the representation of the opposition within the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI), stressing that the latter is currently composed solely of members of the majority. According to Sesanga, a balanced representation is essential to ensure the impartiality of the process.
Then, he calls for the publication of the election results polling station by polling station. This transparency is necessary to avoid any manipulation of the results and to allow the population to verify the accuracy of the figures.
Finally, Delly Sesanga insists on the recomposition of the Constitutional Court before the elections. He denounces the appointment of judges who may lack independence and fail to render justice fairly. According to him, respecting the law in the appointment of judges is crucial to guarantee the integrity of the electoral process.
The national deputy also expresses his concern about the insecurity that reigns in certain parts of the country, particularly in the east. Stability is a key factor in enabling a peaceful and inclusive electoral process.
Despite differing opinions and debates on the reliability of the electoral register, the electoral process is underway in the DRC. The CENI has started meetings with the various stakeholders in order to find common ground for credible elections.
Delly Sesanga declared that his party would submit candidacies at all levels and called on the population to remain vigilant to counter any attempt at electoral fraud.
The opposition’s demand for fair representation, transparency of results and the recomposition of the Constitutional Court reflects the desire to guarantee free and fair elections in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The population must therefore remain mobilized and demand respect for the law to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
