“Musandaba attacked by terrorists: The population calls for help and demands more security”

The news is sometimes marked by tragic events and recently, the village Musandaba was the scene of an attack attributed to Ugandan terrorists from the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF). This attack resulted in the death of three civilians and the kidnapping of another, adding a new wave of fear and desolation to the region.

The head of the Buliki group, from the Rwenzori sector, testified to this tragedy and shared the already heavy toll. Unfortunately, the victims were all men, savagely executed by machetes in their fields. This inhuman act testifies to the unlimited cruelty of the rebels who rage in the region.

The people of Lisasa and its surroundings are deeply shocked by this attack and live in constant fear. It now calls for the installation of a military position in Livano, considered the main passage for the ADF coming from Graben. The military presence could provide a semblance of security and deter rebels from committing further misdeeds.

This attack also raises questions about the security situation in the DRC and the fight against terrorist groups. It is urgent for the authorities to take effective measures to protect civilians and definitively eradicate this threat to the region.

It is important to emphasize that this attack is unfortunately not an isolated case. The eastern regions of the DRC are regularly confronted with acts of violence perpetrated by armed groups, putting the lives of innocent civilians at risk.

It is essential for the international community to support the efforts of the Congolese government in its fight against terrorism and to provide humanitarian assistance to the populations affected by these conflicts. It is also essential to strengthen regional coordination to counter these cross-border groups and ensure the safety of all.

In the meantime, the population of Musandaba and neighboring villages is trying to recover from this tragedy and continue to live despite the persistent threat. These acts of violence must not undermine the resilience and determination of local communities to rebuild their lives and defend their fundamental right to security.

It is crucial that the competent authorities take concrete measures to strengthen security in the region and put an end to this spiral of violence. Civilians have the right to live in peace and to feel safe in their homes
