The CSC wins the CNSS union elections: a victory for the workers

The Confédération Syndicale du Congo (CSC) recently won union elections for representation in the Caisse Nationale de Sécurité Sociale (CNSS). This eighth edition of the elections took place in Kinshasa and allowed the CSC to position itself in the lead with 198 votes and 3 seats.

The National Union of Workers of Congo (UNTC) obtained 139 votes and 2 seats, followed by the Nouvelle Dynamique Syndicale (NDS) with 92 votes and 1 seat. The Democratic Confederation of Labor (CDT) won 78 votes and 1 seat, while the Alliance des Travailleurs du Congo (ATC) and the Syndicat des Travailleurs Libres (STL) won 63 votes and 51 votes respectively, giving them 1 seat each. seat.

According to the president of the CSC, Onautshu Osokonda, the main objective of this victory is to defend the interests of the workers of the CNSS with the authorities in place. He says the organization will do all it can to advocate for staff benefits and rights.

In total, twenty trade union organizations were in the running for these elections. These organizations will have a mandate extending from 2023 to 2026.

The CNSS, created in 1961 in Kinshasa under the name of National Institute of Social Security, is a public institution of the government of the DRC. It is responsible for ensuring the social security of the country’s workers.

This victory of the CSC in the union elections marks an important step in the representation of workers at the CNSS. We hope that this new union composition will allow a better defense of workers’ rights and an improvement in working conditions within the organization
