“Faith Word In action: Re-energizing the empowerment of Congolese women during a workshop in Kinshasa”

Faith Word In Action (FWA), a civic organization specializing in the development and empowerment of young women and girls, recently organized a workshop in Kinshasa. Funded by organizations such as Oxfam, FEMNET and the European Union, FWA’s mission is to empower women to take leadership roles within their communities.

This workshop, which was held from July 4 to 5, aimed to take stock of the progress made over the past year and to revitalize the work plan for the year 2023. Anifa Kalombola, Executive Secretary of Faith Word In action, stressed the importance of this annual review to assess achievements and challenges encountered, as well as to plan future actions.

The workshop allowed different FWA partners to share their experiences and discuss activities carried out outside the STITCH project, which is the main program supported by Oxfam and FEMNET. This diversity of activities contributes to strengthening knowledge and collaboration between partners, with the aim of progressing together in a positive way.

Faith Word In action has been present in the DRC for almost four years and is one of the Congolese members of FEMNET involved in the STITCH project. This project, implemented in seven African countries, aims to empower women and girls, promoting their active participation and engagement in society.

This Faith Word In action workshop demonstrates the importance of regularly evaluating the achievements and challenges encountered in development projects. With an emphasis on planning and collaboration, FWA seeks to maximize its impact and support Congolese women in their quest for autonomy and leadership.
