The Forum of Stakeholders in the Electoral Process held recently highlighted the importance for the Congolese government to guarantee the security of the elections scheduled for 2023.
Indeed, the participants expressed their concern over the security crisis in the east of the country, caused by armed groups and negative forces such as the M23 supported by Rwanda. This instability in the region, combined with the Mobondo phenomenon in the west and kidnappings in Kinshasa, risks compromising the ongoing electoral process.
Stakeholders were also made aware of the risk of spreading misinformation and hate speech in the context of the elections. This disinformation poses an additional challenge to ensure the integrity of the electoral process.
It is important to note that the forum concluded with the intervention of CENI President Denis Kadima, who provided an update on the ongoing electoral process in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
