The preferred diplomatic channel to resolve the security crisis in eastern DRC
Resolving the security crisis in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) remains a priority for many countries and regional actors. Among them, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa expressed his support for a diplomatic approach to resolving this conflict.

During a joint press conference with his Congolese counterpart Félix Tshisekedi in Kinshasa, Cyril Ramaphosa underlined that the diplomatic way was the best option to solve the crisis orchestrated by the rebels of the M23, supported by Rwanda, in the East of the DRC. He affirmed that President Tshisekedi was not opposed to this approach and that they had shared their common point of view on the need for a framework for negotiations.

According to Cyril Ramaphosa, the conflict in eastern DRC is a conflict of aggression that requires the involvement of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) as well as other regional organizations. He also stressed the importance of engaging with stakeholders and key actors in the conflict to achieve a peaceful resolution.

The security situation in eastern DRC remains worrying, despite the efforts made by the regional force EACRF. Although some rebel strongholds have been recovered, M23 rebels continue to pose a threat. Faced with the difficulty of finding an effective solution, Kinshasa is turning to the SADC for additional support, in particular through the deployment of troops in the region.

It is important to emphasize that the resolution of the security crisis in eastern DRC can only be achieved through negotiations and constructive dialogue. Regional diplomatic initiatives, such as those of SADC, are essential to encourage all parties to come to the negotiating table and find lasting solutions.

The search for a peaceful resolution to this crisis is not only crucial for the stability of the DRC, but also for the region as a whole. It is therefore imperative that all regional and international actors redouble their efforts to support diplomatic initiatives and promote peace and security in eastern DRC.

In conclusion, the diplomatic channel remains the best approach to resolve the security crisis in eastern DRC. The support of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and SADC is an important step towards a peaceful resolution of the conflict. It is essential that all the actors involved engage in constructive negotiations in order to achieve a lasting solution and preserve the stability of the region
