A Congolese political leader has filed a complaint against President Félix Tshisekedi for high treason, accusing him of integrating the Democratic Republic of Congo into the Community of East African States (EAC) which threatens the country’s independence . Article 8 of the EAC treaty gives the power to dissolve the Congolese parliament, while article 4 allows the community to acquire, manage and dispose of Congolese land. Senator Muyumba also urged the departure of regional forces from the EAC, while the Minister of Finance denounced the questionable economic ties of the presidential candidates. The Secretary General of the United Nations calls for strengthened inter-African cooperation to resolve the Congolese crisis and that of the Great Lakes. The economic situation is worrying with deadly clashes between communities and a fight against gold trafficking.
