A group of political opponents had planned to lead a march on May 13 in the Democratic Republic of Congo to ensure that constitutional deadlines for presidential elections were met. Following a postponement ordered by the Kinshasa government, the march was postponed to May 20. Presidential candidates and other Congolese political figures have called on the population to demonstrate their resistance and exercise citizen vigilance in the face of national challenges. This march is the first in a series of actions announced by the group of opponents for a real rule of law in the DRC. Fatshimetry’s blog also continues to address other topics such as the humanitarian crisis in the east of the country, the issue of dowry and polygamy, and economic partnerships.
