UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres called at the Addis Ababa Framework Agreement summit on peace, security and cooperation in the DRC and the Great Lakes region, to strengthen cooperation to help establish peace and security in this region. Despite the progress made, the various armed groups continue to cause suffering to the Congolese population. The mobilization of the entire international community is therefore necessary, according to Mr. Guterres, and the United Nations must support African initiatives to solve the problems of the region. The Secretary-General encourages the withdrawal of M23 and the cantonment of armed groups to solve the security problem.
