Deputy Daniel-Israel Mbau has tabled a bill aimed at modifying the family code in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This proposal aims to set the maximum amount of the dowry at 500 dollars, to index the wedding fees and to consolidate the protection of the estate and the transgenerational heritage. It was welcomed by MEPs and referred to the Political Committee for further consideration. The DRC faces many other challenges, but this bill is a positive example of the government’s involvement in improving legislation for the benefit of DRC citizens.
