In this extract, we take stock of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh following the fighting between Armenian separatists and Azerbaijan. The separatists capitulated and began negotiations with Azerbaijan for the withdrawal of their troops. The negotiations are taking place under the supervision of Russian peacekeepers. The separatists began to surrender their weapons and a Russian contingent also provided humanitarian aid to the population. However, the situation remains precarious with the encirclement of the “capital” Stepanakert by the Azerbaijani army and significant humanitarian challenges. It is crucial to closely monitor developments and provide the necessary aid to support the populations affected by this conflict.
