
The Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OPDAD) met at the UN General Assembly to discuss gender equality in Africa. The First Ladies shared the actions undertaken in their respective countries to promote education, maternal and child health, the economic empowerment of women and the fight against sexual violence. The vice-president of OPDAD recalled the importance of not sacrificing these commitments in the face of inaction. Jill Biden, First Lady of the United States, demonstrated her commitment. The OPDAD unifying campaign was evaluated and helped to highlight the importance of international cooperation to promote gender equality and African development.
