
Congolese Scrabble player Ngumba Ibn has won the prestigious K. Fokam 2023 International Tournament in Kribi, Cameroon. Despite financial obstacles, he traveled over 2,500 kilometers to compete. After eliminating formidable opponents, he beat the Chadian champion in the final and became African Scrabble champion. This tournament, nicknamed “the K. Fokam millionaires tournament”, aims to professionalize Scrabble in Africa and promote the discipline. Ibn Ngumba’s victory is a source of pride for the Democratic Republic of Congo and demonstrates the talent of African Scrabble players.
