** Political consultations in the DRC: a turning point towards national unity? **
On April 5, 2025, the Democratic Republic of Congo began political consultations under the leadership of Adolphe Muzito, former Prime Minister, in a tense context marked by armed conflicts, notably against the M23 and Rwandan interference. Muzito calls for a new united majority to overcome the country’s security and socio-economic challenges, while encouraging Congolese to act actively in the process. His inclusive approach could mark a change in relation to traditional alliances, but success will depend on the ability of political actors to overcome their antagonisms and favor national interest. While the DRC faces alarming poverty and millions of displaced people, these consultations represent a crucial opportunity to build a more stable and prosperous future. Peace, supported by real reconciliation, must become the keystone of this new chapter.
