The Democratic Republic of Congo celebrates the reconquest of more than 350 villages initially controlled by rebel groups in the province of Ituri, following two years of a state of siege. This special security measure has enabled the Congolese Armed Forces to carry out several military operations and neutralize more than 300 ADF and allied terrorists. Although some sources deplore the ineffectiveness of this state of siege, this progress is good news for the local populations who have suffered for too long from the violence.
