In a recent article, we return to a tragic incident that occurred in Panzi, in the commune of Ibanda, in Bukavu. A soldier from the reconnaissance regiment opened fire on three individuals following a dispute over the sum of 500 Congolese Francs. A woman lost her life and two other people were injured. Local civil society is calling for measures of justice and peace following these recurring acts of violence perpetrated by the military. This case joins other similar incidents that have recently occurred in South Kivu, highlighting the need for rapid and effective intervention to restore peace and security in the region.
