In this article, we discover the important advances in terms of electrification of the city of Walikale, in North Kivu. Thanks to an ambitious project by the Nduma Kasha company, more than 250 families have been connected to an electricity grid powered by a solar power plant. This initiative has improved the living conditions of the local population by providing them with access to lighting, household appliances and essential services such as mobile phone charging. In addition, this solar electrification contributes to reducing dependence on fossil fuels and promotes sustainable development. However, other challenges remain in the region, particularly in the agricultural sector where investment and the use of biofertilizers are necessary to stimulate economic growth and ensure food self-sufficiency. The FEC also deplores the multiple taxes imposed on certain local businesses and vehicle drivers, which slow down economic activity and limit access to markets. Despite these challenges, the electrification of Walikale represents a significant step forward for the region, while underlining the importance of continuing to invest in sustainable development projects to support economic growth and improve the living conditions of the inhabitants.
