The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is conducting a massive vaccination campaign to protect more than 23 million children against poliomyelitis. This initiative aims to boost children’s immunity and prevent the spread of the disease. The DRC faces a worrying situation with regard to poliomyelitis, with co-circulation of poliovirus strains. The campaign aims to administer two drops of the oral vaccine to every child under the age of 5. Measures are taken to ensure the success of the campaign, such as reinforced supervisions, sweeps in unvaccinated areas and communication efforts to raise awareness. This campaign is a crucial step in the fight against poliomyelitis in the DRC.
